From the outset, the Abbey at Farnborough was destined to produce books. Dom Cabrol’s vision was to live
the liturgy and to write about it, and this he did. So much so that Farnborough was soon nicknamed ‘the
book factory.’
It is not surprising then that Farnborough should have developed a publishing house. Today ancient craft
methods such as Victorian cast-iron treadle presses, rub shoulders with state of the art printing equipment
and modern desk-top publishing in the Abbey Press.
Our printing is of the highest quality, and our work is to be found in Catholic Bookshops across the
globe. In recent years its liturgical publications have attracted international attention. Cardinal
Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI) very favourably reviewed one of our titles. Most recent volumes have
included works of Dom Guéranger of Solesmes and a history for the Benedictine nuns of Tyburn.
Our publications witness to our Catholic Faith not only in their content, but also in the quality of the
materials used and the attention given to their typesetting and design. In both accident and substance
they speak of theological and practical craftsmanship.
