In the 1990s the monks revived a work which had lain dormant since the 1950s, the Saint Michael’s Abbey
Press.
The St Michael’s Abbey Press has an excellent reputation for the quality of content and production of its
publications. The Press produces an extensive range of greeting cards, and books, all available from our
shop site. In recent years its liturgical publications have attracted international attention. Cardinal
Ratzinger very favourably reviewed one of our titles. Most recent volumes have included works of Dom
Guéranger of Solesmes and a history for the Benedictine nuns of Tyburn.
The monks use not only state of the art methods of printing, but also produce for their shop a number of
cards printed by traditional letterpress method, using traditional cast-iron Victorian treadle presses.
The Abbey Press includes a number of operations.
- The design, printing, distribution and sale of a wide range of greetings cards.
- The editing, typesetting, publication, and distribution of high quality publications concerning the
Liturgy and monastic spirituality.
- The design and printing of orders of service and private publications (books of poetry and devotional
works).
